I’m Roary and I’m the mascot for Newbury Lions Club. I thought I’d let you know what we get up to and what’s happening in the months to come.
I used to live in Africa and heard about these people all over the world who call themselves Lions who go about doing good things and helping other people. I decided to see for myself what they do! The Lions in Newbury have been around for over 40 years and have helped such a lot of people in the local area as well as sending money abroad, so I decided that I’d stay around and help them.
Below are some photographs of me helping out .. well, that’s what I think. I’m not sure the Lions Club members feel the same way!
Check out the Calendar to see what events are coming up and, if I brush out my mane and wash my paws, maybe I’ll see you there?
Come along and say hi!
The club recently honoured two individuals with its highest award.
Lion Drew completed a successful year as president of the club and handed over the chain of office to Lion Di Merchant at a recent meeting.
2017 is the year Lions Clubs around the world are celebrating 100 years of Service in the heart of their local communities. As part of these celebrations, the 770+ Clubs in Britain and Ireland have been challenged to meet a series of targets centred on health, youth, supporting others, the environment and recognising local achievers.
As we approach the half way point in this our Centennial Year, the Lions Club of Newbury proudly records its achievements to date in 2017.
